Montclair Culinary Academy (MCA) offers innovative, creative, healthy classes for children ages 6 and up and adults. 

Our classes are hands-on and our students learn proper culinary skills such as food safety, knife skills (when appropriate), etiquette, science, social and math skills. Our student chefs will enjoy making, creating, healthy, fabulous and delicious food to take home.

We also offer workshops, team building and private adult parties and much more. There has been much press about the benefits of cooking with children. See this recent NY Times article.  Sharing the fun and love of cooking with others builds team spirit and offers each child the opportunity to create and explore the world around them.

Chef Karan Fischer specializes in customized, weight-loss gourmet food which she develops, prepares and delivers to private clients in Manhattan, Montclair and the Hamptons, working with nutritionists and personal trainers to assure clients' success. Her "Karan's Kitchen LLC" entity has created a healthy line of gluten-free snack products with national distribution and were a leader in transforming airport food kiosks into hubs of healthy choices. She is recognized by the NYC Board of Education as a Chef/Instructor for "healthy cooking" after school programs.  Karan is a member of the Speciality Food Association and Taste NY Events. Some of her private clients include Morgan Stanley, Alicia Keyes Foundation and Abigail Kirsch Catering.  

Lisa is passionate about real food. She graduated from the French Culinary Institute and was inspired to start a blog, This Little Piggy went to the Farmers Market about feeding her twins real food. She wrote the What's for Dinner? column for Barista Kids for several years, and is adept in getting picky eaters to eat their greens. Her compassion and belief that good food should be available to all prompted her to be a volunteer chef at the Salvation Army for the past four years where also, she has organized their Fall Food Classic fundraiser. A former PTA president, Lisa is very involved with her local community and was the  Executive Director of the Montclair Food & Wine Festival, organizing their successful first winter event, Frost Bites.

They are both firm believers in farm-to-table food and are passionate about good, real food, whether that's sharing, teaching and / or eating.
